Data is at the heart of the digital revolution and a key aspect to the solution of many 21st century challenges. President Juncker identified Jobs, Growth and Investment and a Digital Single Market as the first priorities for EU policy. The goal is to foster growth, competitiveness, jobs and the internal market, through making better use of the opportunities offered by digital technologies. Specifically, in transport, better access to and sharing of digital transport (traffic, travel, vehicle, cargo etc.) data for both public and private stakeholders along supply chain can foster seamless information flows and open up a wide range of new business opportunities and could improve the use of existing resources and the daily life of citizens.
That’s why the main goal of this project and especially this Workshop is the sensitization of young researchers for such societal tasks, who´s responsibility is to contribute to the advancement of science. There is a need for greater research understanding of the open questions in transport and logistics associated with implementing digital technologies. Furthermore, the project will bring together researchers and stakeholders from transport and logistics communities from Baltic countries and Germany to identify areas where active collaboration between business and science is needed, to suggest the researchers the new tasks and horizons; and knowledge transfer from research institutes in Germany in order to support the industry, SME in transforming their work systems.
We would like to invite PhD and Master students, their supervisors, researchers and representatives from logistics and transport business on Workshop in frame of the "SCI-BI: Digitalization in Logistics and Transport" project, that will be held on April 26, 2018, 2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. in the TTI.
