Optimal Electric Vehicle Use and Operation in Mass Transit and Personal Transportation in the City of Kiel

Project KielFlex

In the KielFlex project, the Fraunhofer IFF is concentrating on designing and implementing a smart energy management system for the charging infrastructure, including the necessary components and information and communication infrastructure. Smart coordination of charging and storage systems and the grid management system will optimize the utilization of existing grid capacities. This will meet the demands made by electric transportation sustainably.

The Fraunhofer IFF is designing the system architecture based on use cases and integrating existing systems to ensure functions meet the objective and systems are implemented viably. One priority is the use of advanced standards for data exchange. This will serve as the basis for developing and field-testing the management system.
