Renewable Energy Systems and Storage Systems

Project Regees

Research scientists developed and demonstrated approaches to coordinated grid management and control in the REGEES research project. The objective was to utilize the capabilities of centralized and distributed control systems optimally while factoring in the energy market’s demands. Distribution grids’ lower voltage levels in particular were a new challenge since they lacked continuous online monitoring for grid protection. Rather than establishing the technically sophisticated instrumentation and communication systems they developed just on the lower voltage levels, though, the project partners wanted to operate them throughout all levels of the grid.
